It’s February, and love is in the air. And if you think about it, it’s easy to see how our world has a fascination with the concept of love. I mean, did you know there are over 100 million songs written about love? It’s true! That’s probably because God is love. We were literally made by love, to love, and to be loved!
This February, we want our preschoolers to know that Jesus loves everyone, and we can love everyone like Jesus. He gave us so many examples of what it looks like to love others. We can’t wait to teach our preschoolers this powerful truth. And what better way to learn this concept than through a party?! So grab some confetti, and get ready to celebrate God’s love all month long through our new theme – It’s a Party!
February 2022 First Look Curriculum Overview
As preschoolers learn about the love of Jesus, they will see that they can love others like Jesus, too. That is something to celebrate!
The memory verse for this month will be 1 Corinthians 16:14, NIV: “Do everything in love.” Preschoolers will learn the bottom line is that Jesus loves everyone.
Here’s a glimpse at some of the lessons preschoolers will learn each week:
Week 1: Banquet Parable (Matthew 22:8-10)
Through the Banquet Parable, preschoolers will learn that Jesus loves everyone. In this story, the King prepares for a party. And guess who he invites? EVERYONE! If Jesus had a party, He would invite everyone, too! Preschoolers will learn that everyone is a friend of Jesus and are invited to be His friend forever.
Week 2: Woman at the Well (John 4:1-30)
In this story, preschoolers will learn that Jesus loves people everywhere. This Bible story focuses on a conversation Jesus has with a woman at a well. This woman came from a family different from Jesus’, and their families didn’t get along well. But did that stop Jesus from loving her? Not at all! Jesus loves everyone, everywhere – even people that look and act differently than Him.
Week 3: Zaccheus (Luke 19:1-10)
Through the story of Zaccheus, the friendless tax collector, preschoolers will learn that Jesus loves people even when they do something wrong. Jesus invites Zaccheus to have dinner with him, so Zaccheus climbs down the tree. At this dinner, Zaccheus realizes that Jesus loves him even though he made mistakes, and it changes his life forever! God’s love is truly powerful.
Week 4: Do Everything in Love (1 Corinthians 16:14)
To wrap up the month of love, preschoolers will learn that we can love like Jesus. We will celebrate all the truths of God’s love that were learned this month. The ones that remind us that we can love everyone like Jesus, even when they are different or make bad choices. This kind of love can change our lives!
It will truly be a blast to celebrate the love of Jesus all month long with preschoolers! Our world is longing for more people to understand and show this message. In times of hate and darkness, Jesus offers a ray of light through his unconditional love that can’t be earned, but is simply given. What a precious gift we can give our preschoolers at this time in the world, and what a beautiful thing to celebrate!
So grab your party hat and a handful of confetti – let’s celebrate God’s love all month long!
