Chances are if you are reading this, you not only love kids, you have devoted much of your life to them. Whether your heart leans more toward babies, elementary age, middle schoolers or high schoolers, you get how important it is to invest into the next generation. So, I have a question for you—what’s the best gift you and your church can give a kid?

  • Incredible children’s spaces with live animals?
  • Hologram teachers?
  • Epic waterslides that land children in the age appropriate classrooms?
  • Youth rooms with trampoline floors? Rotating stage? Weekly pyrotechnics?

While I will always be one who believes engaging environments are key when it comes to reaching kids (and I love a good waterslide), I think there is something even more important. I believe the best gift your church can give a child is parents whose marriage is thriving.

Think about it. As church leaders, we know what happens at home is even more important than what happens at church. We know that parents are the most influential people in a child’s life, including their spiritual life. So at Orange, we have done everything possible to help churches partner with parents to teach their kids about Jesus.

But here’s the problem, if parents are struggling with giving grace to each other, it’s going to be difficult for them to teach their kids about . . . grace. That’s why it is so key that churches have strong leaders (paid or passionate volunteer) to oversee the process of pouring into marriages.

That’s also why four years ago, Orange launched MarriedPeople. We want to give churches a strategy and resources they can easily use to help families win, by helping marriages win. We’ve created man- and woman-friendly resources for Events, Small Groups and even Individual Date Nights.

We realize you have a lot to focus on, but we don’t want you to miss this important part of impacting families. So with Married People resources, you can either go big or go small, all the while helping couples learn how to communicate, have fun and grow more connected.

What better gift could a church give a child than parents whose marriage is thriving?
